Sunday Morning Discussion Group

What's the Sunday Morning Discussion Group?

This is an informal Sunday Morning gathering from 9:00-9:45 a.m. following the discussion practice known as "uninstructed discussion" which is characterized by the lack of a formal structure or pre-set agenda. This allows for a natural flow of conversation and open-ended exploration of different topics and concers of interest. This type of "leaderless" discussion emphasizes spontaniety and allows participants to steer the conversation based on their personal interest and insights.

ALL are welcome. If you're new to Ascension, this is a wonderful way to meet new people as well!

Church should be a place where all people can learn together. Here at Ascension, we are trying something different, and seeking to include childen and youth in the everyday life of our church as they are able!

Worship

Join us for worship either in person, or online at 10:15 a.m. EST every Sunday morning. We are an open and affirming congregation. Truly all are welcome in this space!

Where are you located?

What time is service?

10:15 a.m. both in person and online.

Where do I park?

There is ample, easily accessible parking right in front of the building.

Is there something for my kids?

We welcome families with children. Children are welcome at all services, and though optional, there is a special seating area right in the sanctuary with toys to play with. If your child becomes tired, feel free to take him or her to the Fellowship Room where you can hear the service over the speaker and take the time to help your child. We encourage you to bring your child back to worship for a communion blessing. Some Sundays include special activities for children to participate in as well outside of the worship service between the Children's Sermon and Communion - keep an eye out for announcements!

What does a Typical Service Look Like?

A pretty typical Lutheran service! Everything you need to follow along in worship is found in the printed bulletins handed out in the Narthex as you come in. All are welcome to receive the Sacrament during Holy Communion. Even if you do not wish to receive the Sacrament, come up for a blessing anyway, or feel free to stay in your seat. Not sure what to do? Ask a neighbor! Absolutely anyone will be happy to help you feel right at home.

What should I wear?

Whatever you like! Like to put on your "Sunday best?" Go for it. Feel more like yourself in a t-shirt? Go for it. Come as you are. Blue jeans can often be seen peeking from the bottom of Rev. Dev's robes. Jesus doesn't judge people for how they dress... and neither do we.
